REAL ID deadline is May 7

If you’re planning to fly on US commercial airlines later this spring and beyond – including the ACAAI Annual Scientific Meeting this November – and you use your driver’s license as a means of identification at the airport, you’ll need a REAL ID as of May 7, 2025.

The process to get a REAL ID can take several weeks, so plan ahead.

Passports are also accepted as valid identification. The states of Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont and Washington also issue Enhanced Driver’s Licenses (EDL), which will be accepted for official REAL ID purposes. For a list of other TSA-acceptable identification, please visit the TSA website.

Beginning May 7, travelers without a REAL ID-compliant license or acceptable alternative won’t be permitted through the airport’s security checkpoint.
