Your questions answered

We asked Michael Blaiss, MD, FACAAI, executive medical director, to reflect on Vision 2020 – what’s been achieved and where we’re headed after 2020.

We’re entering the final year under Vision 2020. As you reflect on the past five years, what do you consider the College’s biggest achievements under this initiative?

Vision 2020 has led to many exciting improvements for the College, such as the online College Learning Connection, the Leadership Summit and the Advocacy Council restructure. For me, the most important achievement was the revamp of our committee structure – removing unnecessary committees, strengthening the remaining committees and empowering those committees to take a more active role in programming for the College.

What happens next? Where do you see the College focusing its efforts beyond 2020?

The College will develop a new strategic initiative to build upon the success of Vision 2020. We will have a planning retreat in early 2020, and I foresee a further emphasis on committees, empowering the HOD and a true long-term mission for the College Foundation. Hopefully you and all committee members will give the College leadership your thoughts and suggestions to insure the College’s future goes in the right direction to support the mission of the practicing allergist.
