Each application is evaluated based on a standardized scoring system. Applications are reviewed by a committee based on the following criteria:
- Program Accreditation and Reputation (ACGME status, faculty qualifications, past fellow-in-training success/involvement)
- Demonstrated Need for Funding (Program expansion, risk of losing fellowship position)
- Institutional and Faculty Engagement (ACAAI participation)
- Fellow-in-Training Commitment to U.S. Practice (Likelihood of remaining in the U.S. as an allergist/immunologist)
- Strength of Research and Clinical Training Environment (Opportunities for fellows-in-training to engage in research, patient care, and leadership)
Preference will be given to programs that have unfunded positions and demonstrate the highest impact of funding.
