Help shape the College in 2022

The power of an organization like the College lies in its members. Our members’ needs shape the College’s goals, strategies and initiatives. Additionally, an organization is only as good as its members make it. Our members’ involvement brings the College’s ideas and initiatives to reality.

I invite you to become active in the College this year. There are opportunities for members in all stages of their careers, in many levels of time commitment, and that will satisfy a wide variety of interests. I have found my volunteer experience with the College, from joining committees in my earlier years to current leadership roles, to be rewarding beyond measure.

In my column last month, I touched on the importance of completing upcoming surveys that will help guide the College, foster our understanding of patients with certain conditions, and shed light on various practice issues such as compensation. Surveys are a quick and easy way to make your voice heard, and they are sent via email, so they are easily accessible.

If you’ve been a Fellow for three years or longer, consider applying to be a member of the College’s Board of Regents. If you’ve already served a three-year term on the Board of Regents, consider applying for the positions of vice president or treasurer. The application deadline is Feb. 18.

The College’s advocacy efforts have been instrumental in getting practicing allergists’ voices heard on issues such as payments, allergen extract mixing and more. The House of Delegates is looking for Super-delegates and representatives in a number of states to help amplify allergists’ voices. These reps serve as the College’s eyes and ears – and as leading advocates – for policy issues at the local, state and regional levels.

College committee work offers something for everyone! Whether you’d like to get involved in clinical education efforts or developing new resources to advance the practice of allergy, we have ample opportunities. Take a moment to explore our organization to find how you can contribute your ideas and expertise. Information on applying for committees will be coming soon via emails and in Insider.
