Great things are ahead in 2022!

Greetings and I hope all of you are staying well and safe as we head toward January.

Since the Annual Scientific Meeting, we have been working hard to bring you important resources and information, as well as to add the voice of the College to discussion of issues that impact our patients. We will continue this work in 2022 with many projects and programs already in the planning.

This month, we introduced a new yardstick on chronic rhinosinusitis. We plan to have several new clinical and practice tools debut in 2022. You can also look forward to more episodes of our podcast, AllergyTalk, plus all of the great information you rely on in our various publications.

Also in 2022, we have some exciting events already on the calendar. A few highlights:

  • College presentation at the Training Program Directors Meeting (Jan. 7-8)
  • College-led Roundtable on Racial Disparities in Atopic Dermatitis and Food Allergy (Feb. 9)
  • Leadership Summit for aspiring College leaders (March 26-27 in Chicago)
  • Annual visit to Capitol Hill to advocate on payment and other issues important to patient care (first week of May)
  • Annual Scientific Meeting (Nov. 10–14, Louisville, KY)

At this time, I’d also like to encourage you to start the new year with an eye toward contributing to one or more College projects or programs. Even if you are not currently on a committee, there are opportunities to give of your time and expertise. An easy way to get started is to go to the Get Involved page of the College website and check out various ways to engage.

Another important way to contribute to the profession is via our surveys. In the early part of the year, you’ll be asked to take part in several surveys on various topics that are important to our members or our patients. The largest of these will be the member survey. This survey is an important part of our strategic planning to assess current member needs. Other surveys will help our understanding of patients with certain conditions, or will shed light on various practice issues such as compensation. By completing these surveys, you will be helping the College in our work to meet members’ needs and to support optimal patient care. We need your feedback and your insights, so please consider taking a few minutes to contribute in this important way.

I look forward to sharing more resources, opportunities and news that are relevant to you, our members, in the near future. Have a safe and happy holiday season!
