The following are key actions taken by the Board of Regents at the Nov. 7 meeting and by the Executive Committee during its Jan. 11 meeting.

  • Approved the ACAAI Policy on Member-Requested Statements, Guidelines and Manuscripts as presented.
  • Reappointed David Engler, MD, FACAAI to serve a second four-year term as Trustee-at-Large on the Foundation Board beginning Nov. 14, 2020.
  • Appointed Wes Sublett, MD, MPH, FACAAI to serve a two-year term as an ACAAI second-year Regent on the Foundation Board beginning Nov. 14, 2020.
  • Appointed Shradha Agarwal, MD, FACAAI to serve a two-year term as Training Program Director representative on the Foundation Board beginning Nov. 14, 2020.
  • Reappointed Greg Lund to serve a second two-year term as lay representative on the Foundation Board beginning Nov. 14, 2020.
  • Provided Jennifer Pfeifer with the College’s 2020 Executive Medical Director Award.
  • Approved the reappointment of HOD Speaker Curtis Hedberg, MD, FACAAI and HOD Vice Speaker M. Razi Rafeeq, MD, FACAAI to serve in their respective offices for a second term through November 2021.
  • Approved the nomination of HOD Recording Secretary Andrej Petrov, MD, FACAAI for a second term through November 2021.
  • Approved the nomination of super-delegates Anne Ellis, MD, FACAAI, Michael Palumbo, MD, FACAAI and Madeleine Ramos, MD, FACAAI through November 2025.
  • Reappointed Purvi Parikh, MD, FACAAI and Dane McBride, MD, FACAAI to serve an additional term on the Advocacy Council Board of Directors through November 2022.
  • Invited Stephen Imbeau, MD, FACAAI to continue his role as Immediate Past Chair of the Advocacy Council of ACAAI through November 2021.
  • Invited Travis Miller, MD, FACAAI and J. Allen Meadows, MD, FACAAI to attend Advocacy Council Board of Directors’ meetings as guests through November 2021.
  • Approved the reappointment of Anne Ellis, MD, MSc, FACAAI and Anna Nowak-Wegrzyn, MD, PhD, FACAAI as Annals Deputy Editors for an additional 1-year term beginning January 2021 and running through December 31, 2021.
  • Approved the reappointment of Larry Borish, MD, FACAAI, Mariana Castells, MD, PhD, FACAAI, Matt Greenhawt, MD, MBA, MSc, FACAAI, Jay Lieberman, MD, FACAAI, Jonathan Spergel, MD, FACAAI and John Oppenheimer, MD, FACAAI as Annals Associate Editors for an additional 1-year term beginning January 2021 and running through December 31, 2021.
  • Approved the reappointment of 46 identified Annals Editorial Board Members as recommended by the Annals Editor-in-Chief, to additional 2-year terms on the Annals Editorial Board beginning in January 2021 (through Dec. 31, 2022).
  • Approved the appointment of the following Annals Reviewers to the Annals Editorial Board beginning in January 2021, for two-year terms (through Dec. 31, 2022): Aikaterini Anagnostou, MD, PhD, FACAAI, Mark Ballow, MD, FACAAI (Emeritus), Theresa Bingemann, MD, FACAAI, Kanwaljit Brar, MD, FACAAI, Gary Goodman, MD, FACAAI, Stephanie Albin Leeds, MD, Christopher Parrish, MD, FACAAI, Punita Ponda, MD, and Patricia Stewart, MD, FACAAI.
  • Approved permanently offering free one-year trial allied health memberships to Practice/Office Managers of physician College members including waiver of application fees and authorize the Executive Committee to review and approve all trial memberships.
  • Approved the proposed 2021 Budget.
  • Provided the Advocacy Council of ACAAI with a grant of $250,000 for: 1) promoting research and study in allergy or advancing the knowledge and practice of allergy; and/or 2) maintaining or advancing the highest possible standards among those engaged in the practice of allergy; and/or 3) advancing medical ethics; and/or 4) establishing standards for the qualification of persons engaged in the specialty of allergy.
  • Approved signing an MOU with MedAire to obtain data on inflight allergic emergencies and authorized the Infectious Diseases and International Travel Committee to conduct the proposed retrospective data analysis.
  • Approved the administration of the patch testing member survey developed by the Dermatology Committee.
  • Contracted with Dr. Joanna Zeiger to provide survey-related services for the International Cannabis Allergy Collaboration as outlined in Dr. Zeiger’s proposal contingent upon her willingness to reduce the requested fee.
  • Approved developing resources for members, other physicians, patients, and the public about FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccines and authorized the 2020-21 President and Immediate Past President to appoint a task force to lead this effort.
  • Approved the College join a coalition of organizations including the AMA to support and promote compliance with COVID-19 vaccine recommendations.
  • Ratified the appointment of Samantha Knox, MD to a 4-year term as Assistant Editor of AllergyWatch replacing Todd Mahr, MD, FACAAI beginning 1/1/2021.
  • Appointed Bryan Martin, DO, FACAAI to a 2-year term (2021-2023) as ACAAI co-chair of the Joint ACAAI/AAAAI Board Review Certification Course to replace David Khan, MD, FACAAI effective immediately.
  • Supported the request of the Joint Task Force on Practice Parameters to enable them to develop accompanying slide sets for each new or updated parameter that summarize the parameters’ background, methods and results.
  • Ratified the appointment of the following members to the ACAAI COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force: Niraj Patel, MD, FACAAI (chair), Sangeetha Mohan Kodoth, MD, FACAAI, Mary Hudelson, MD, FACAAI, Kevin Murphy, MD, FACAAI (Honorary), Gailen Marshall, MD, PhD, FACAAI, Michael Blaiss, MD, FACAAI, Purvi Parikh, MD, FACAAI and Dan Ein, MD, FACAAI.
  • Approved the paper developed by the ACAAI COVID-19 Task Force titled “Insights from American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force: Allergic Reactions to mRNA SARS-CoV-2 Vaccines” and authorized its submission to the Annals for publication consideration.
