Spotlight on the AI and Technology Subcommittee

As the use of augmented intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly more common for allergy and asthma practices, the College has established a new AI and Technology Subcommittee to keep members informed about emerging technologies and provide practical resources that help practices use these tools safely and effectively.

We’re excited to welcome Fatima Khan, MD, FACAAI as the inaugural chair. Dr. Khan has a passion for using technology to extend the reach of allergy care and enhancing patient engagement. Her goals for the coming year include developing educational materials for membership, exploring new initiatives, and creating tools for AI integration in allergy care.

The new subcommittee is composed of Drs. William Anderson, Nicole Chase, Stanley Cheng, Mansi Kanuga, Andrew Nickels, Eric Schauberger, and Jennifer Shih. In addition to AI, they’ll collaborate on resources to help practices evaluate and implement technologies like:

  • Remote patient monitoring
  • E-visits and virtual care
  • Online scheduling and check-in
  • Electronic billing
  • Automated reminders

The new subcommittee reflects the College’s continued commitment to supporting members as they adapt to evolving clinical practices. By launching this subcommittee, the College is positioning itself at the forefront of digital transformation in allergy/immunology.  Together, we can shape a future where technology empowers allergists and improves patient outcomes.
