Remembering Dr. James Breneman

The College was saddened to learn of the loss of James Breneman, MD, FACAAI. He passed away at age 98 from natural causes earlier this month. He has been a College member since 1962, a Fellow since 1966 and an Emeritus Fellow since 1992.

For many years, Dr. Breneman served the College in a variety of capacities. He was an early leader in food allergy, long before it received the attention it has today. He was one of the founders of the College’s International Food Allergy Symposium and chaired the College’s Food Allergy Committee for 14 years. Dr. Breneman authored three textbooks, more than 100 scientific papers and delivered national and international lectures on food allergy. His work is a lasting legacy to the allergy community and he will be missed.
