The following are key actions taken by the ACAAI Board of Regents and Executive Committee during the months of August through November.
- Ratified the decision to reappoint Mark Corbett, MD, FACAAI, Kathleen May, MD, FACAAI, Luz Fonacier, MD, FACAAI, and J. Allen Meadows, MD, FACAAI, as College representatives to the WAO HOD for 2022-2023.
- Approved honoring James Sublett, MD, FACAAI, with the 2022 Gold Headed Cane Award at the 2022 Annual Scientific Meeting.
- Ratified the appointment of Kristin Sokol, MD, FACAAI, as the vice chair of the Annual Meeting Program Committee for a one-year renewable term effective Nov. 14, 2022.
- Appointed Jay Lieberman, MD, FACAAI, as the chair of the Annual Meeting Program Committee for a one-year renewable term effective Nov. 14, 2022.
- Approved providing SPARK applicants who were not selected to receive a travel grant to attend the in-person Annual Meeting with complimentary access to the Livestream meeting.
- Approved a contract with journal publishing consultant to assist the College with its scientific journal publisher negotiations and allocating funding in the College’s 2022 and 2023 budget to complete the work.
- Retained Donald Leung, MD, PhD, FACAAI, as Senior Executive Editor of Annals through Dec. 31, 2023.
- Requested the Budget Committee to include a 3% increase in the amount provided to National Children’s Hospital for Annals editorial office support in 2023.
- Approved endorsing the proposed legislation forthcoming from Senator Tammy Duckworth regarding the FAA’s review of emergency medical kits on passenger planes contingent upon the Advocacy Council’s approval of the language contained in the final bill.
- Approved the Advocacy Council’s request to seek bipartisan legislative support for a College-developed proposed bill that would require airlines to carry epinephrine autoinjector devices aboard all passenger planes.
- Approved the 2023 Vision Forward strategies and tactics.
- Approved supporting an ACAAI Sister Society Symposium at the 2022 APAAACI International Conference, Dec. 5-8 in Manilla, Philippines, and authorized the President to select participating faculty and allocating the necessary funding in the budget to cover these travel expenses.
- Ratified the appointment of Jay Lieberman, MD, FACAAI, to a 4-year term as ACAAI co-chair of the Joint Task Force on Practice Parameters beginning immediately and continuing through June 2026.
- Approved the applications submitted by the Credentials Committee for Fellowship, Promotion to Fellowship, Membership, Allied Health, Fellow-in-Training and Resident/Medical Student Membership.
- Approved the Credentials Committee recommendations for Retired and Emeritus Status for the named Fellows and Members.
- Approved the appointment of Steve Dorman, MD, FACAAI, and J. Wesley Sublett, MD, FACAAI, to the Advocacy Council Board of Directors for two-year terms beginning November 2022 thru November 2024.
- Approved designating the HOD’s Vice Speaker as a non-voting member of the Advocacy Council’s Board of Directors for the duration of their term as HOD Vice Speaker.
- Reappointed Lisa Bartnikas, MD, FACAAI, Peck Ong, MD, FACAAI, Roland Solensky, MD, FACAAI, and Jonathan Tam, MD, FACAAI, to serve an additional three-year term as Annals Editorial Board Members beginning Jan. 1, 2023 and ending Dec. 31, 2025.
- Appointed William Carl Anderson, III, MD, FACAAI, Matthew Giannetti, MD, Nicholas Hartog, MD, FACAAI, Karen Hsu Blatman, MD, FACAAI, Dennis Ledford, MD, FACAAI, Elizabeth Jane Phillips, MD, Nicholas Rider, DO, Anna Rosovsky Smith, MD, FACAAI, Di (Sandy) Sun, MD, MPH, and Jennifer Protudjer, PhD, to serve a three-year term as Annals Editorial Board Members beginning Jan. 1, 2023 and ending Dec. 31, 2025.
- Approved the revised CME Mission Statement.
- Approved the establishment of an ACAAI Education Council Award as outlined.
- Approved the addition of a Nurse Liaison to the Annual Meeting Program Committee (AMPC). The Nurse Liaison will be selected by the AMPC chair from the members of the Allied Health Professionals Committee to serve a one-year renewable term at the discretion of the AMPC Chair.
- Approved the development of a GRADE Vaccine Allergy Guideline in 2023.
- Approved the development of a GRADE Severe Asthma Guideline in 2023.
- Reappointed David Stukus, MD, FACAAI, as ACAAI co-chair of the joint ACAAI/CSACI North American Pediatric Allergy and Asthma Conference through Dec. 31, 2024.
- Appointed Janna Tuck, MD, FACAAI, to serve a 4-year term as Trustee-at-Large on the Foundation Board, and Melinda Rathkopf, MD, FACAAI, to serve an abbreviated one-year term as Trustee-at-Large on the Foundation Board beginning Nov. 13, 2022.
- Appointed Jeffrey Demain, MD, FACAAI, to serve a one-year term as 2nd Year Regent on the Foundation Board beginning Nov. 13, 2022.
- Appointed Marcella Aquino, MD, FACAAI, to serve a two-year term as Training Program Director on the Foundation Board beginning Nov. 13, 2022.
- Appointed Kay Tyler to serve a two-year term as Lay Representative on the Foundation Board beginning Nov. 13, 2022.
- Amended the Board of Regents Travel Policy to enable Board members who travel internationally on College business to be reimbursed for business class airfare up to $7,500.
- Approved the revised 2023 budget.
- Designated San Francisco as the site for the ACAAI 2028 Annual Scientific Meeting, Nov. 9-13 at Moscone West Convention Center, contingent upon a successful site visit and contract negotiations.
- Approved the proposed 2023 amended JTFPP Budget.
- Approved the Joint Task Force on Practice Parameters request to collaborate with the Clinical Immunology Society on the development of the next Immune Deficiency Practice Parameter.
