Our advocacy delivers

Our House of Delegates state delegate networks are working! Members of the College reached out to their state delegates for help when their claims for drug testing were denied.

Our research concluded that an insurance carrier had mistakenly omitted ICD-10 codes for allergic reactions to drugs from their list of reimbursable codes. Our team developed a letter to the carrier asking them to reconsider and include the necessary codes in their next policy update. We then provided the letter to the presidents of the three affected state societies who forwarded it directly to the carrier (as regional issues receive more attention when they are brought up by state societies as opposed to a national organization).

The carriers in Pennsylvania and Texas revised their policies to include the allergy to drug diagnoses codes, enabling our members to be reimbursed for the services they provide and contribute to their patient’s well-being and quality of life.

The HOD Network is strong and is here to help with problems you’re experiencing in your practice. The Advocacy Council – advocating for allergists and their patients.
