Observing National Volunteer Week

Established in 1974, National Volunteer Week, celebrated April 19-25 this year, is a time to shine a light on those who make a difference in the lives of others and causes they care about. The College deeply appreciates the commitment of all of our members who serve within various areas of the College and are selflessly furthering our mission.

“National Volunteer Week offers us an opportunity to say a special thanks to all members who lend their time and expertise to advance the work of the College,” said College President J. Allen Meadows. “For those of us who see all the work behind the scenes, our appreciation has deepened in recent weeks as our member volunteers have stepped up to keep our membership informed and supported amid the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re proud and truly humbled by the compassionate dedication we have seen during these unprecedented times.”

More than 300 members volunteer their time to serve on our committees and councils each year. We also have another 50 or so serving on our various editorial boards and task forces.  Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the College, and we thank each one of them for making a difference in the organization, the A/I specialty, and our patients’ lives.

Would you like to get involved by joining one of our committees in November? Submit an application by May 15.
