It’s World Allergy Week

This week is World Allergy Week, with the theme “Allergy Care Is Essential Care.” The World Allergy Organization (WAO) outlined several areas to emphasize the theme this week. Read the action areas below and how the College continually demonstrates the importance of allergy care.

Make allergy care a core health priority in national and global agendas – The College’s Advocacy Council works diligently to monitor government and regulatory issues affecting allergists, their practices and their patients.

Train more allergy specialists; integrate them across all levels of care – The College’s Pathways to Practice program is addressing the shortage of allergy/immunology training positions. Read about recent grant recipients to help increase fellowship positions.

Ensure access to allergy diagnostics, treatments, and adrenaline and Track allergy prevalence, burden and service gaps – The Allergists’ Foundation Community Grant program empowers practicing community allergists to address barriers to asthma and allergy care. Read about grants recipients’ projects. Recipients of 2026 grants will be announced soon.

Promote public awareness and health literacy on allergy everywhere – the College’s public website has a wealth of factual, east-to-understand information for people about allergic conditions, and the College actively educates the public via digital campaigns and social media.

World Allergy Week is a designated time for world focus on allergic conditions. The College works year-round to keep issues for practicing allergists in the forefront and to provide care for our patients.
