Highlights from the 2025 ACAAI Leadership summit

This past weekend, 22 early-career allergists attended the 2025 ACAAI Leadership Summit in Chicago. It was a unique opportunity for participants to acquire the foundational skills needed to be an effective leader in their practices. Topics included communicating effectively, preventing and dissolving conflict, advocating for change, coaching others, working with different behavior styles, using social media professionally, and much more. The summit was supported by Astra Zeneca.

On Saturday, a professional communications expert facilitated discussions on conflict management, improving coaching skills and managing difficult people. On Sunday, College leaders walked participants through various aspects of the College and applying leadership skills, including:

  • Committee Engagement & Pathways to Leadership – Karla Adams, MD, FACAAI, Regent
  • Advocacy Insider – Travis Miller, MD, FACAAI, Chair of the Advocacy Council
  • Leadership on Social Media – Zachary Rubin, MD, FACAAI
  • Applying Leadership Skills in Allergy and Immunology – Maureen Petersen, MD, FACAAI
