The Gold Headed Cane Award is given annually to a College Fellow who has demonstrated the highest standards of scientific excellence and integrity. This year, College Fellows selected Gary N. Gross, MD, FACAAI. The award will be presented on Saturday, Nov. 11 during the Opening Ceremony at ACAAI’s 2023 Annual Scientific Meeting.
Dr. Gross is an allergist at the Dallas Allergy and Asthma Center in Dallas, Texas. He has been a College Fellow for 37 years and was the recipient of the ACAAI Distinguished Service Award in 2003.
Dr. Gross has served as Executive Vice President of the Joint Council of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (JCAAI). In that capacity, he had the opportunity to represent the allergy/immunology specialty to Medicare, commercial insurance companies, and the AMA committees responsible for deciding on CPT codes and payments. He also served as CPT Advisor on the College’s Advocacy Council and has answered hundreds of member questions on coding.
He was one of two doctors representing the specialty of allergy before the USP committee to determine the revision of sterile compounding that we now know as chapter 797.
Congratulations to Dr. Gross on these and many other outstanding achievements, and on receiving this prestigious award.
