COVID-19 insurance coverage is starting to change

At the onset, the government, health insurers and providers were adapting quickly to ensure patients received necessary care and treatment during the COVID-19 public health emergency. Insurers have now begun to announce additional changes and updates to the waivers and flexibilities that have been in effect during the COVID-19 pandemic. The announcements include extensions of specific policies and waivers, in addition to dates for reinstatement of prior authorization and other protocols that have been temporarily waived.

Certain policies and waivers have been extended, while prior authorization and other protocols that were temporarily waived, now have dates by which to be reinstated. Be sure to check with individual plans for the latest information.
