  • The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) opened the application for Phase 4 COVID-19 Provider Relief Funding.
  • National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director Dr. Anthony Fauci announced that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will soon release data regarding “mix-and-match” COVID-19 vaccines, referring to individuals receiving a third shot from a manufacturer other than from the manufacturer of their first two doses.
  • The FDA is considering authorization of a half-dose Moderna vaccine as a booster shot. The decision is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended those who are pregnant, recently pregnant, or want to become pregnant get vaccinated because the benefits of vaccination outweigh known or potential risks.

Congress

  • The House Education and Labor Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Human Services met Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 10:15 am ET for a hearing regarding methods for protecting communities from COVID-19.
  • On Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 2:00 pm ET, the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis held a hearing on how Congress can help state and local health departments.
  • Thursday, Sept. 30 at 10:00 am ET , the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions will meet to discuss the reopening of schools amidst COVID-19.
  • Thursday, Sept. 30 at 10:00 am ET, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will hold a hearing on the federal response to the pandemic.
