Big win for College as school asthma bill becomes law

President Trump Signs School-Based Allergies and Asthma Management Program Act into Law

ACAAI is proud to see one of its top legislative priorities signed into law. On Jan. 5, President Trump signed into law H.R. 2468, the School-based Allergies and Asthma Management Program Act. The bill incentivizes schools to develop allergy and asthma management plans for their asthmatic students in collaboration with the student’s primary allergy or asthma care provider. Specifically, schools will receive preferential treatment for asthma treatment grants if they create asthma and allergy management plans that comply with this legislation.

The College worked closely with Representatives Hoyer (D-MD) and Roe (R-TN), the bill’s sponsors, on language ensuring the participation of the student’s primary allergy and asthma provider in the development of the allergy and asthma management plan.

Rep. Hoyer thanked ACAAI for our work to bring this legislation to fruition. The College thanks and congratulates all organizations that supported this effort.
