Based on recently released data, the impact factor of Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology rose to 7.1 in 2025, up from 4.7 a year earlier. A journal’s impact factor is a measure of article citations in a year. Impact factors are measured by dividing the number of current citations to articles published in the two previous years by the total number of articles published in the two previous years. Annals now ranks as the 5th of 40 allergy journals, and 28th of 183 immunology journals.
“This is an incredibly exciting data point,” said Mitchell Grayson, MD, FACAAI, editor-in-chief of Annals. “The substantial increase of the impact factor is a recognition of the hard work of our editorial team to increase the significance of Annals.”
Dr. Grayson noted the rise in impact factor builds on the previous work of Gailen Marshall, MD, FACAAI, former editor-in-chief, and Dr. Marshall’s editorial team. It is a testament to the high quality of accepted submissions from authors and evidence that Annals continues to provide the most cutting-edge and useful information to practicing clinicians.
“We’re extremely proud of Annals’ elevated impact factor rating and the direction of the journal under Dr. Grayson’s stewardship,” said Cherie M. Zachary, MD, FACAAI, ACAAI president. “The impact factor is an important measure of the quality of the research studies, systematic reviews, guidance documents and other important articles in the journal. The College is proud to be a leading force in advancing the field of allergy/immunology and helping practicing allergists provide the best care to patients.”
