Now’s the time to mark Nov. 15-19 on your calendar – our Annual Scientific Meeting in Seattle is all-new and better than ever.
“The theme for this year’s meeting is Practice Empowerment: Patients. Community. Partners. We will profile the allergists unique role in working with our partners to better serve our patients,” said Todd Mahr, MD, FACAAI, president elect and program chair. “We will also highlight the many opportunities we have to work within our communities. You will walk away from this meeting with extremely practical information that you’ll be able to implement and use in your practice immediately.”
So what are we working on that makes this year’s meeting a must-attend? New (and returning) features include:
- A stellar Thursday program. Plan to arrive early on Nov. 15 for a can’t-miss program. The morning session will focus on immunomodulators/biologics and how to use them in your practice. The afternoon session will focus on the very hot topic of drug allergy.
- Don’t-miss lit. The classic Annual Literature Review will be back on Friday, Nov. 16, covering everything you should have read over the last year but didn’t.
- A new take on plenaries. These premier sessions present a high-interest topic each day.
- Saturday, Nov. 17 – Learn about the latest adult and pediatric asthma studies and how they will impact your practice.
- Sunday, Nov. 18 – Get practical applications for your office across multiple clinical areas including atopic dermatitis, severe asthma ad immunotherapy.
- Monday, Nov. 19 – Hear about the latest changes in the allergy continuum including how to handle anaphylaxis and allergic emergencies and how to partner with community and lay organizations.
- More meeting and mingling. All the sessions – including the Advanced Practice and Allied health courses – now have the same break times, so you can expand your network like never before.
- Ask the expert roundtables. We’re setting up new roundtable sessions with 8-12 participants addressing a single topic with a known expert facilitating. Participants will then rotate to the next topic table, for a total of three to four different topic and experts.
- Clinical conundrums. These case-based sessions will explore novel, complex cases from practice. There will be three cases presented during each session and participants will drill down into best practices for each case.
- FIT Bowl fun – We’d never get rid of the rootin’ tootin’ FIT Bowl, where teams of FITs answer game-show style questions. In fact, we’ve made it even easier to attend – nothing else is scheduled during this time, so you have no excuse to not show up to root for your favorite team!
- A Continuous Assessment Program (CAP) review – Stay through Monday to attend the CAP review to help ease yourself into the new MOC requirements. Our review includes a journal club-style discussion of the 12-15 articles designated by the ABAI from which annual MOC questions will be taken.
- And so much more!
