The Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Fellows-in-Training (FIT) Award is now in its third year. Annals is seeking nominations for the FIT who has published the most impactful research or review article in Annals in the previous year. Any manuscript submitted with a FIT as first or senior author may be considered for this award, with the following requirements:
- The FIT must be a fellow-in-training at the time of the initial submission of the manuscript, regardless of when the manuscript is finally accepted. This means that a potential awardee might have completed their fellowship and be in practice by the time their manuscript is published in print, but they would still be eligible for the award. Further, the FIT must be a member of ACAAI to be eligible for this award.
- The manuscript must be published in print between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024. Manuscripts just accepted or accepted and online as an in-press article will not be considered until they have been published in a print issue. However, these manuscripts would be eligible for future year awards.
- The FIT needs to be nominated to be considered for the award. Nominations will be solicited from program directors, but anyone can send in a nomination to the Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology editorial office (simply email annals@acaai.org). Nominations must be received by the editorial office by the end of the day, August 15, 2024. In the email, please provide the nominee’s name, full publication reference, a statement on the FIT’s role in the scholarly work (if known), and the nominator’s name and contact information.
- The Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology editorial office will verify the role of the FITs in the scholarly work. It is expected that only FITs who have played a primary leading role in the project will be considered competitive for this award. If possible, please include information on the specific role of the FITs when sending in any nominations.
The editors of the Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology will then consider all eligible nominations and select the awardee(s). The winning FITs will be notified of their selection before the ACAAI Annual Scientific Meeting and there will be a formal presentation of the award(s) at the Annual Meeting. We anticipate a cash award of up to $2,500 for the selected author(s), but please note that the dollar amount and the number of awards is dependent on the number of nominations, quality of the work, and the financial support available.
The editors hope that this program will encourage FITs to submit their best scholarly work and will provide recognition for those outstanding FITs so that they will stay active in academic allergy and immunology.
If you have any questions about this program, please email the editorial office at mailto:annals@acaai.org.
