The following are key actions taken by the ACAAI Board of Regents during its Nov. 4 meeting.
- Agreed to continue to co-sponsor the 2022 Program Director’s Assembly Winter Meeting.
- Ratified the appointment of Purvi Parikh, MD, FACAAI as the College’s primary Delegate to the AMA Young Physicians Section (YPS), and Timothy Chow, MD as the College’s Alternate Delegate to the AMA YPS effective immediately.
- Appointed Jayesh Kanuga, MD, FACAAI as a Trustee-at-Large on the Foundation Board for a four-year term beginning Nov. 7, 2021.
- Accepted the unaudited Financial Statements for the period ending 9/30/21.
- Ratified the Executive Medical Director’s decision to provide Hollis Heavenrich-Jones with the College’s 2021 Executive Medical Director Award.
- Ratified the appointment of J. Wesley Sublett, MD, MPH, FACAAI as the recording secretary of the House of Delegates for the 2021-2022 term.
- Ratified the reappointment of the Great Lakes Region super-delegate Don Bukstein, MD, FACAAI, the Intermountain Region super-delegate Michael Volz, MD, FACAAI and the New England super-delegate Christopher Randolph, MD, FACAAI for the 2021-2026 term.
- Approved the 2022 committee and council appointments.
- Approved the applications submitted by the Credentials Committee for Fellowship, Promotion to Fellowship, Scientific Fellowship, Allied Health, Fellow-in-Training and Resident/Medical Student Membership.
- Approved the Credentials Committee recommendations for Retired and Emeritus Status for the named Fellows and Members.
- Approved the new Advocacy Council logo and tagline – ADVOCATING FOR ALLERGISTS AND THEIR PATIENTS.
- Approved the appointment of Travis Miller, MD, FACAAI as Advocacy Council vice chair through Nov. 2023.
- Reappointed Alnoor Malick, MD, FACAAI and Melinda Rathkopf, MD, FACAAI for an additional term on the Advocacy Council Board of Directors through Nov. 2023.
- Approved Stephen Imbeau, MD, FACAAI and J. Allen Meadows, MD, FACAAI to attend Advocacy Council Board of Directors’ meetings as guests through 2023.
- Approved the 2022-2024 Education Blueprint.
- Agreed to support the revised joint paper on cannabis allergy titled: “Cannabis-related allergies: an international overview and consensus recommendations” and its submission to Allergy for publication consideration.
- Approved the College’s participation as a “title society” in the DANCE Global Consensus for Angioedema.
- Appointed Luz Fonacier, MD, FACAAI, William Lumry, MD, FACAAI and Timothy Craig, DO, FACAAI as the College’s representatives to the DANCE Global Consensus for Angioedema.
- Increased the 2022 budget allocation for the President’s Private Dinner.
- Authorized the 2021-22 President to 1) appoint an Executive Medical Director Search Committee that would be charged with evaluating interested and eligible candidates using the existing job description/criteria; and 2) recommend a proposed candidate to the Board of Regents for consideration at its Spring 2022 meeting.
- Allocated additional funding in the 2022 budget to provide a training stipend to cover the four-month orientation period (Sept. 1 through Dec. 31) of the new Executive Medical Director once they have been selected.
- Allocated funding in the 2022 budget for AAN support.
- Approved the amended 2022 budget.
- Approved the Archives Committee’s request to record oral histories of past ACAAI presidents and EMDs who have not yet been recorded using multiple interviewers via Skype, Zoom or other video conferencing program.
- Approved the Archives Committee’s request explore the possibility of digitizing the ACAAI Archives.
- Approved the Archives Committee’s request to prepare a manuscript on ACAAI History (2012-2022) for publication in Annals upon consultation with the journal’s editor-in-chief.
- Approved a series of short Readership Needs Assessment surveys about Annals of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, each addressing a specific aspect of Annals with prior approval of the survey questions by the Annals editor-in chief.
- Approved the Dermatology Committee’s statement on nickel allergy for posting on the College’s member website after further refinements by the Committee.
- Approved the Dermatology Committee’s request to explore the development of educational and public outreach material on the consequences of nickel exposure.
- Appointed Richard Irwin, MD, Anne Chang, MBBS, PhD, Whitney Dunlap, MD, and John Oppenheimer, MD, FACAAI to develop the Chronic Cough Yardstick.
- Appointed Jay Lieberman, MD, FACAAI to serve as the medical editor of the Chronic Cough Yardstick.
- Approved the Women in Allergy Committee’s survey for distribution by email to those who registered for the Nov. 7 Women in Allergy Luncheon at the Annual Meeting in New Orleans.
