Sami Bahna, MD, DrPH, FACAAI, and Santiago Martinez, MD, FACAAI, recently had a wonderful time representing the College as self-funded speakers at the Chilean Society of Allergy & Immunology congress in Santiago. The Chilean Society prepared a strong scientific program which was attended by about 200 allergists. In addition to expert local speakers, there were speakers from England, Israel, Italy and Spain.
Dr. Bahna’s were on “the dilemma of allergy to food additives” and “systemic hypersensitivities to corticosteroids,” and Dr. Martinez’s presentation was on “pediatric aspects in the diagnosis and treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis.” The Chilean Society’s leadership appreciated the College’s support and extended warm hospitality to Drs. Bahna and Martinez. Both enjoyed networking with the attendees, many of whom are College members. Other attendees were encouraged to join the College. “Our participation was certainly worthwhile,” said Dr. Bahna.
