Spotlight on the New Allergists Committee

The College is keenly focused on providing members with timely and relevant resources they can apply in their practices and in treating patients, as well as obtaining CME and other professional development. Younger members (or those new to the specialty) may have different needs than more seasoned allergists. The New Allergists Committee works to ensure we meet the needs of allergists/immunologists in the early years of practice.

Chaired by Karla Adams, MD, FACAAI, the committee is charged with:

  1. identifying current content/resources of relevance to new allergists.
  2. providing recommendations for new educational content and/or practice resources of relevance to new allergists.
  3. engaging on DocMatter to support the development of an online new allergist community.

The New Allergists Committee is currently developing a quarterly e-newsletter, which will launch later this year, highlighting information and resources relevant to allergists early in their practice. Content will include an overview of available board preparation tips/resources, toolkits, educational material and opportunities to get involved with the College.

“The e-newsletter is a convenient way for those in the early years of practice to be aware of the benefits College membership has to offer,” said Dr. Adams. “The newsletter will provide them with direct access to those resources.”
