The Clinical Programs, Patient Safety & Quality (CPPSQ) Committee, chaired by Mary Hudelson, MD, FACAAI, supports the College’s educational efforts by developing content in clinical areas, patient safety and quality.
The Committee is planning a webinar on vaccine immunology for this fall, along with other related resources to help educate members on how vaccines are classified and what we currently understand about them.
“Clinicians in our specialty are expected to explain clearly how vaccines work to the public, especially after the COVID pandemic,” said Dr. Hudelson. “We want to be sure our membership feels comfortable discussing well-established information that has been peer-reviewed within a well-regarded professional society to their patients.”
Most recently, the Committee has also been focusing on biologics. They are in the process of developing questions for a self-assessment on asthma biologics. Once fully developed, the self-assessment module will include case-based questions, comprehensive discussion and references for further study.
“With all the recent advancements and treatment options available, we want to be sure ACAAI members are fully versed in biologics and how to use them in their practice,” said Joel Klein, MD, FACAAI, the Committee’s vice chair. “We are excited to develop the self-assessment that will supplement all the other great resources members can access via the College Learning Connection and member website.”
Do you have a committee project idea of your own? The College is always looking to its committees for new ideas for projects that can be of benefit to our members and their patients. If you have a project idea for your committee, be sure to talk to your chair to make sure it’s being considered. Remember, if it would benefit you and your practice, then it could be worthwhile for other practicing allergists!
