Think you’ve got great research? The College has more ways for you to spotlight it than ever before! Get your abstracts (and medically challenging cases) ready for submission for presentation at our Annual Scientific Meeting, Nov. 15-19 in Seattle – and put your findings and ideas out there for the world to see.
Medically Challenging Cases
All-new this year! We told you this meeting was better than ever, right? The College now has a forum for you to share challenging cases you have managed. Your case should illustrate one of the following:
- The management of novel or very rare diseases
- A common disease presenting in an uncommon way
- An uncommon disease masquerading as something run-of-the-mill
- Cases which expand the understanding of disease pathogenesis
- Cases where the teaching point is based in error
- Cases that “re-think” established medical lore
- Unreported adverse effects of treatments and interventions
Medically challenging cases have their own special, extended deadline, and must be submitted by Aug. 23.
Check out new research
New this year, the College is also accepting industry abstracts for a Distinguished Industry Oral Abstracts session. The College will select the top eight research abstracts submitted by industry to be presented on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 4:30 – 5:30 pm. Each presenter will get five minutes to present, followed by a three-minute Q&A. This new session will take place, unopposed, right before the ever-popular FIT Bowl.
Lugging heavy posters is a thing of the past
Absolutely everyone who’s abstract or medically challenging case is accepted for a poster presentation will be able to leave their cumbersome paper poster at home. The College uses e-posters – interactive, easy-to-read – not to mention easier to travel with! All e-posters will be displayed on monitors in a designated area of the exhibit hall and available during all normal exhibit hall hours. So, don’t feel chained to your presentation time – invite friends and colleagues to see your research during “off-times” and enjoy the discussion that follows. Additionally, all selected abstracts and medically challenging cases will be available online 24/7, so you can browse the latest research from the comfort of your hotel room.
And, as usual, all abstracts and medically challenging cases selected for presentation will be published in a special November Annals supplement, as well as listed in the Annual Meeting program.
