Radio piece featuring ACAAI president reaches close to 10 million listeners

ACAAI President Gailen D. Marshall, Jr., MD, PhD, FACAAI, recently recorded a radio piece on the topic of university students caring for their allergic conditions while away from home. It’s a hurdle many first-year students face as they strive to manage their asthma and allergies without parental guidance, and it can be daunting.

His radio interview found a big audience and was picked up by individual radio stations, as well as radio networks across the country. A total of 1,620 stations aired Dr. Marshall’s interview—including network owned, independent, and network affiliate stations ranging in genres from news/talk to country to adult contemporary and sports. The total number of impressions was more than 9.8 million. (An impression is the number of people who heard the interview.)

As part of ongoing promotional efforts to reach allergy and asthma patients with useful information regarding management of their conditions, the College works with a radio production company to create and distribute engaging radio pieces. Radio remains a great tool for reaching patients with allergy messages – in their homes, cars, or on mobile devices.  You can hear Dr. Marshall’s interview below.
