The Allergen Extract Mixing Course, held in Chicago on May 17, 2025, provided a full day of instruction and hands-on exercises to teach participants the appropriate steps to mix allergen extracts for use with patients.
Allergists must comply with USP Chapter 797 which includes detailed procedures to ensure the extracts do not get contaminated. The course covered didactic topics including allergens and standardization, current mixing regulations, safety and the compounding area, and documentation. Participants received substantial hands-on training on garbing, the glove-tip and media fill tests. Expert break-out sessions were also part of the program.
