The College’s printable version of our peanut oral immunotherapy (OIT) shared decision-making tool has been added to our public website to facilitate discussion on this treatment option. The pdf of the tool can be found under the “Resources” tab on the homepage of the public site.
Last year the Food and Drug Administration approved Palforzia as an oral immunotherapy for peanut allergy in children 4 – 17 years old. The College created a pdf version of the shared decision-making tool to answer questions on peanut OIT. The tool can be printed out by parents or patients, filled out and brought to their allergist.
Previously only available to College members, the tool is now available on the College’s public web site to encourage parents to review the information on peanut OIT and discuss this option with their child’s allergist.
The tool reviews the benefits and risks of peanut OIT, costs and more. If your practice offers peanut OIT, consider linking to this resource on your practice website as a resource. The tool is supported by Aimmune.
Later this year, the College will introduce an online peanut allergy treatment shared decision-making tool and toolkit with a variety of resources for allergy practices.
