White House and Federal Agencies

  • The Federal Government will share some of its surplus supply of AstraZeneca’s vaccine with Canada and Mexico.

Economy, Vaccines, Testing and Treatment

  • President Biden says the U.S. will meet his goal of at least 100 million first doses of COVID-19 vaccines in his first 100 days in office by Friday.
  • Former President Donald Trump encouraged everyone to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
  • The Federal Government is distributing $12.25 billion to improve COVID-19 testing. $10 billion of that total is reserved for schools to help them reopen while $2.25 billion is going towards testing in underserved communities.
  • Moderna began testing a version of its COVID-19 vaccine that can be safely stored using normal refrigeration.
  • Moderna also began testing its vaccine in infants and children.
  • A new study found that Pfizer’s vaccine is 63% effective after one dose.
  • The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) created a new public dashboard that allows people to search for information about adverse events reported on the treatments and vaccines that received emergency use authorizations during the pandemic.
  • The National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director Dr. Anthony Fauci and other public health experts are trying to ease concerns about AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine after European regulators began reviewing reports of blood clots associated with the vaccine.
