- Attend all committee meetings – whether you meet in person, over the phone or online, make an effort to engage with members of your committee. If you are not able to make a meeting, touch base with your chair to see what you have missed and see where you may be able to contribute.
- Share your insights to expand the conversation – regardless of your level of expertise or position in your career, don’t hesitate to offer your unique perspective.
- Be pro-active and claim ownership of committee goals/activities – offer to take on a task that relates to your expertise or challenges you to learn something new.
Do you struggle to find your voice? Initiate a phone conversation with your chair to discuss how you can take a more active role in your committee’s activities. This will give you an opportunity to share your background and interests and brainstorm ideas for your involvement.
