Board of Regents and Executive Committee Decisions

Following are key actions taken by the Board of Regents at the Nov. 10 meeting and by the Executive Committee during its Dec. 12 teleconference. 

  • Approved the development of a combined quarterly report by the Advocacy Council chair, House of Delegates speaker and Practice Management Committee chair for distribution to its members in an effort to coordinate activities and share information.
  • Approved the 2016-2018 committee and council appointments as presented by the Appointments Committee.
  • Appointed Purvi Parikh, MD, as the ACAAI representative to the Council of Subspecialty Societies for a two-year term.
  • Reappointed Vivian Hernadez-Trujillo, MD, FACAAI, for a renewed 4-year term and appointed David Lang, MD, FACAAI, for a new 4-year term as AllergyWatch Assistant Editors.
  • Reappointed the following Annals Editorial Board members for another 2-year term beginning January 2017:

  • Appointed Ahmad R. Sedaghat, MD, to the Annals Editorial Board for a 2-year term beginning January 2017.
  • Authorized ACAAI President to send a letter to the American Academy of Dermatology expressing the College’s support of Resolution AADA 009 that calls for a national directive to regulate the amount of nickel in consumer products with prolonged skin contact.
  • Approved the development of communication to encourage College member participation in the Pediatric Contact Dermatitis Registry to validate the burden of contact dermatitis in children.
  • Appointed Jayesh Kanuga, MD, FACAAI, to serve a 2-year term as Trustee-at-Large on the Foundation Board beginning November 15, 2016.
  • Appointed Matthew Denny to serve a second 2-year term as the lay person Trustee-at-Large member on the Foundation Board beginning November 15, 2016.
  • Appointed Rohit Katial, MD, FACAAI, to serve a 4-year term as Editor-in-Chief of the Annals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology beginning January 1, 2018.
  • Approved updated Conflict of Interest Disclosure Policy, Conflict of Interest Leadership Issues Related to Service in the ACAAI and the Global Annual Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form. Board members will be asked to disclose any new conflicts of interest prior to each Board meeting and copies of all completed Board disclosure forms will be distributed to the Board prior to each Board meeting.
  • Requested the JTFPP develop practice parameters on drug allergy, food allergy and anaphylaxis in 2017.
  • Ratified the establishment of an ACAAI task force to promote allergist/ immunologist well-being with Gailen Marshall, MD, PhD, FACAAI, serving as chair.
  • Authorized Elsevier to make the ABAI-selected Annals articles available to ABAI Diplomates for complementary viewing as part of the new MOC recertification program.
  • Ratified the selection of James Sublett, MD, FACAAI, to represent the College at the Feb. 16 CSTE Pollen Summit in Atlanta to learn more about the College’s potential role in the development of the National Aeroallergen Tracking Network.
  • Approved honoraria policy for non-Annual Scientific Meeting activities.
  • Scheduled the next ACAAI face-to-face Board of Regents meeting for Saturday, May 13, 2017 in Chicago.
  • Appointed David Engler, MD, FACAAI, to serve a 2-year term as Trustee-at-Large on the Foundation Board beginning Nov. 15, 2016.
