Your leadership’s decisions

The following are key actions taken by the Executive Committee during its Feb. 25 teleconference.

  • Approved the request from the Joint Task Force on Practice Parameters (JTFPP) to extend the terms of JTFPP co-chairs to three years.
  • Approved the request from the JTFPP to transfer David Golden, MD, FACAAI to a College-appointed representative on the JTFPP and reappoint him as co-chair for a second term (7/2020 – 6/2023).
  • Reappointed Matthew Greenhawt, MD, MBA, MSc, FACAAI to a second five-year term (7/2020 – 6/2025) as an ACAAI representative on the JTFPP.
  • Ratified the appointment of Dennis Ledford, MD, FACAAI for a five-year term (7/2020 – 6/2025) as an ACAAI representative on the JTFPP.
  • Ratified the decision to authorize the JTFPP to begin development of an Atopic Dermatitis GRADE parameter.
  • Appointed Shyam Joshi, MD to a four-year term as Assistant Editor of AllergyWatch beginning immediately (Feb. 25) to replace David Khan, MD, FACAAI who stepped down.
  • Nominate Kelly Maples, MD, FACAAI, Shahzad Mustafa, MD, FACAAI, and David Kaufman, MD, FACAAI for consideration to serve on the ABAI Board of Directors for a six-year term beginning in 2022.
  • Ratified the appointment of Melinda Rathkopf, MD, FACAAI as the College’s second Delegate to the AMA House of Delegates and Purvi Parikh, MD as the second Alternate Delegate.
  • Allocated additional funding in the 2020 budget to enable both ACAAI Delegates to the AMA HOD to attend the June and November meetings, and each of ACAAI’s two Alternate Delegates to attend either the June or November meetings.
  • Approved the modified charge of the Women in Allergy Committee as presented and updating the Governance Manual accordingly.
  • Approved inviting Jonathan Bernstein, MD, FACAAI (chair), Larry Borish, MD, FACAAI, Anju Peters, MD, Whitney Stevens, MD, PhD and an otolaryngologist as authors of the Chronic Sinusitis Yardstick.
  • Appointed Jay Lieberman, MD, FACAAI as the editor of the Chronic Sinusitis Yardstick and asked him to coordinate with the Joint Task Force on Practice Parameters to ensure consistency and minimize overlap with the chronic sinusitis parameter being developed by the JTFPP.
  • Declined the invitation to participate in Allergy and Asthma Network’s revised Oral Corticosteroids Campaign.
  • Granted permission to the Allergy and Immunology Awareness Program of the Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar to use the content from the College’s patient brochures (excluding images and logos) for translation into Arabic, provided they sign an agreement outlining the specific conditions under which the brochures can be developed/distributed.
  • Authorized staff to work with the president and executive medical director to develop an agreement to enable the Allergy and Immunology Awareness Program of the Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar to translate the College’s patient brochures into Arabic.
  • Approved treating the two FIT Bowl Co-chairs and one Team Manager as “moderators” and providing the same allowance/reimbursement of expenses as outlined in the ACAAI Annual Meeting moderator reimbursement policy beginning in 2020.
  • Approved the recommendations of the Gold Headed Cane Award Committee to: 1) continue the presentation of the GHC Award at the Opening Ceremony; 2) allow the honoree to provide a brief (< 5 minute) acceptance speech; and 3) take a group picture of all GHC Award recipients in the lobby after the Opening Ceremony.
