Step up this spring

Spring is in bloom – step up and lend a hand in your community by offering free allergy and asthma screenings. It might sound like a big task, but the College makes it easy with the Nationwide Asthma Screening Program (NASP) supported by Teva Specialty.

Here’s what you have to do:

1. Join! Let us know you are interested.

I want to participate!

2. Plan! To get started, check out our coordinator’s manual. Then, once you have secured a location and time for your screening, send in the location registration form. If the screening is open to the public, we’ll add it to the website where people can find it easily.

3. Print! We’ll send you a link to an electronic toolkit packed with all the materials you need to make your screening a success. You can customize and print, in-house, registration forms, patient education materials, children’s activity sheets and more. All you need to bring is your own spirometry equipment.

Participating in NASP has big benefits – both for you and attendees. “We found some of the most rewarding interactions involved educating attendees on proper inhaler technique,” said Michelle Dickens, RN, FNP-C, AE-C. “We display a variety of spacers and inhalers, which make a great conversation starter as the participants pass by the booth.”

If you offer asthma screenings on your own, consider registering your screenings with us – you can access all the great printables mentioned above and you will receive a large promotional banner.
