CMS extends Meaningful Use attestation and PQRS reporting deadlines

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has extended the deadlines for Meaningful Use attestation and certain PQRS reporting options for data from 2016.

Meaningful Use

You now have until Monday, March 13 to register and attest to meeting the Meaningful Use EHR Incentive Program requirements to avoid the 2018 penalty. CMS’ attestation worksheet can help you prepare for attesting in their Registration and Attestation System.

PQRS

The new PQRS deadline for data from 2016 depends on your reporting method.

Qualified Registries and QCDRs may have separate, earlier deadlines to complete data submissions to their registries. For example, the deadline for users to report/enter data online to the AAAAI QCDR for PQRS reporting is Friday, March 10 at 5:00 pm ET.  We encourage you to contact your specific vendor for details.

March 13 deadline:

  • CQM reporting via attestation

March 17 deadline:

  • Web Interface

March 31 deadlines:

  • EHR Direct
  • Qualified Clinical Data Registries (QCDR)
  • Qualified Registries
  • eCQM reporting
