Allergist is new AMA president-elect

Congratulations to Susan Bailey, MD, FACAAI, on her election as president-elect of the American Medical Association (AMA)! Dr. Bailey is a long-time College fellow, former member of the Board of Regents and former speaker of the College House of Delegates. In her most recent role, she has served as the AMA speaker of the House of Delegates.

The College enthusiastically supported Dr. Bailey’s candidacy in a letter to the AMA in June 2018. Bradley Chipps, MD, FACAAI, then College president, wrote:

“We are proud to offer this endorsement as we recognize her exceptional leadership and commitment to driving efforts that enable physicians to deliver quality care and improve the health of our communities. As speaker of the AMA House of Delegates and long-standing ACAAI Fellow, we’ve seen her dedication to addressing challenges facing our physician community, ensuring physician practices have access to the information they need to thrive and fostering collaboration among physician organizations across many specialties.

We are confident her leadership, impressive track record of accomplishments and passionate commitment to enhancing public health make her an ideal candidate for the AMA’s next president-elect.”

We are excited to have an allergist as AMA president-elect, look forward to seeing her serve the physician community in this important capacity and wish Dr. Bailey much success in her new role.
