Need 2020 MIPS flexibility?

Need 2020 MIPS flexibility?

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced physicians have the option to opt-out completely or partially from the 2020 Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) program in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency.

If you need flexibility with this program, complete a hardship exemption application by Dec. 31, 2020, and indicate the request is due to the pandemic. You will need to login to your HARP account at qpp.cms.gov to complete the application.

You may use the hardship application to opt out of all four performance categories and be held harmless from a 2022 payment adjustment or to request that your score be reweighted if you choose to opt out of one or more individual performance categories.

Important to note: If you submit 2020 MIPS data for more than one performance category to CMS, the submission will override the hardship exception application, and you will be scored on your submission.
