Mismatch – Meaningful Use vs PECOS data

To make sure you receive your incentive payment and report your compliance with Meaningful Use (MU) requirements, you must have a national provider identifier (NPI) and you must be successfully registered in the Provider Enrollment Chain and Ownership System (PECOS).

A number of our members have reported a discrepancy between their PECOS registration and their MU filing. We have contacted CMS on behalf of our members, and they have opened a formal inquiry into the problem. If any of you are encountering discrepancies between your PECOS registration and your MU filing, please let us know.

In order to make the registration process easier for you, College members should go over this checklist (developed by CMS) which details steps to a successful registration. If you have any questions about this process, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Request review of 2014 PQRS data

If you have any questions regarding the status of your 2014 PQRS reporting or are concerned about potentially receiving the PQRS negative payment adjustment in 2016, please do not hesitate to submit an informal review request. CMS will be in contact with every individual eligible professional (EP) or PQRS group practice that submits a request for an informal review of their 2014 PQRS data. Additionally, revised 2014 Annual Quality and Resource Use Reports (QRURs) are now available via the CMS Enterprise Portal.

All informal review requests must be submitted electronically via the Quality Reporting Communication Support Page (CSP) which is available now through Dec. 16, at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Follow these steps to submit an informal review request:

  1. Go to the Quality Reporting Communication Support Page (CSP)
  2. In the upper left-hand corner of the page, under “Related Links,” select “Communication Support Page”
  3. Select “Informal Review Request”
  4. Select “PQRS Informal Review”
  5. A new page will open
  6. Enter Billing/Primary Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), Individual Rendering National Provider Identifier (NPI), OR Practice Site ID # and select “submit”
  7. Complete the online form.
