We’re also pleased to report that our nominee, James Tracy, DO, was appointed to serve on a brand new committee that CMS has formed that will develop episode-based, resource-use measures suitable for use in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). The group is charged with defining the episode triggers and episode windows for care episodes and patient condition groups. It will also provide input on episode grouping algorithms and measure development approaches.
Dr. Tracy, a College Fellow since 1994, serves as vice chair of the Advocacy Council’s Alternative Payment Models Subcommittee and has a unique understanding of the economics of a modern day medical practice. He previously worked at the FDA’s Bureau of Biologics and is an assistant clinical professor of internal medicine at Creighton University and an adjunct associate clinical professor of pediatrics at the University of Nebraska. He’s the managing partner at Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Associates in Omaha.
