Open Payments pre-publication review and dispute

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Open Payments program collects data from drug and device manufacturers and group purchasing organizations (GPOs) about payments they make to physicians and teaching hospitals. The program also reports information about ownership interests in drug and device manufacturers and GPOs held by physicians and their immediate family members. It’s important that physicians and teaching hospitals confirm the accuracy of the financial data reported about them, as this information is published on the Open Payments website.

CMS’ Open Payments Program Year 2018 data is now open for your review. Disputes of the posted information must be initiated no later than May 15, 2019; work directly with reporting entities to resolve disputes. The Open Payment Program Year 2018 data and any updates to the previous years’ data will be published and available to the public in June 2019.

Registration is required to review and/or dispute Open Payments Program data. If you have not registered before, follow this two-step process:

  1. Register in the CMS Enterprise Identity Management System (EIDM);
  2. Register in the Open Payments system

You’ll need your National Provider Identifier (NPI) and your State License Number (SLN) to complete the Open Payment Program registration process.
