What’s your next step?

What’s your next step?

Leading isn’t easy. It can be difficult to communicate ideas and goals to a team, and not everyone is born a great leader.

Don’t worry if that’s how you feel. The College has something to support young academic/practicing allergists looking to grow their leadership skills. We’re bringing you the College Leadership Summit: Generation Next, March 24-25 in Chicago. This program debuted in 2017 and was so well received by participants that you won’t want to miss it. Here’s what some had to say:

  • “The speakers provided practical skills and strategies which can be applied to our everyday practice, lives and as rising committee members (and leaders) within our state and national organizations. “
  • “Novel subject matter. Dynamic speakers. Good sized group, not too big or too small.”
  • “The material was so relevant for multiple aspects of my career, and I had instant strategies to apply.”
  • “The Summit allowed a self-assessment of my current leadership (behavioral) style and provide strategies to utilize that style in a work group or team.”
  • “Informative, inspirational and educational.”
  • “I enjoyed learning from others by making it very interactive. I am leaving the Summit feeling inspired. Great speakers!”

The College Leadership Summit is perfect for young academic/practicing allergists (45 years old or younger or in practice 10 years or less) with any level of leadership experience – just drive is needed! Attend sessions where you will get the foundation you need for great leadership, the skills to put into practice, and the plan to give your future purpose. Sessions will cover topics like communicating effectively, tapping into your talent, innovating to effect, advocating effectively, managing change, being a great team leader, and leading with purpose.

“This one-and-a-half-day Summit will provide a unique and exciting hands-on program for the practicing young allergist to develop important leadership skills. It will give all attendees, even those who have not yet had a leadership role, an incredible foundation to become a future leader in our great specialty," said Michael Blaiss, MD, FACAAI, executive medical director of the College.

If you are interested in applying to participate in the Summit, download the application and submit it by Jan. 29. The College Member Relations Committee will review all applications and notify the 20 members who have been accepted for this inaugural course by the week of Feb. 5. There is no fee for the course or materials.  Participants will pay their own travel and hotel costs.
