Update on eClinicalWorks and Meaningful Use incentive payments
Last week we let you know that on May 31, the U.S. Department of Justice announced a massive settlement with eClinicalWorks (eCW), one of the nation’s largest electronic health record vendors. Their products and services are used by over 100,000 physicians, including many allergists.
We contacted CMS to ask if there would be any efforts to recoup Meaningful Use payments to physicians based on this settlement and, as expected, received the following reply:
Providers that successfully attested using eCW software and received an incentive payment will not have to pay back their incentive payments. CMS realizes that providers rely on the software they use for accuracy of reporting. FAQ can be found here.
